Warming up

I'm warming up for some quilting so I played around with small projects. I wanted to finish package for Michele. I hope she'll like it. So first I finished up mug rug.

Honestly I'm not sure about the binding choice. The back is fairly simple and I cut the fabric a bit wonky. Oh well, let's call that negligent style.

Then I wanted to try out new to me tutorial. It is called sleeping bag pouch. I picked up scrap of batting which is kind of too thick so I'm not so happy with the result.

I liked the idea with endless zipper and I used the other half for different shape. Just flat round corner pouch.

I played with some selvages which creates pretty colorful piece. As I like to hang pouches I added handle. I'm thinking about some other option. I'm probably not done with twisting this pattern.

Linking up with TGIFF and Crazy mom quilts. Plus Sewjo Saturday.

  1. I think the placement of the Dear Mirror text on the back of the mug rug is great. The selvage pouch is super colorful and fun, especially the bright purple zipper! I can see why they are called a sleeping back pouch. So glad you found some time for sewing again. :)

  2. Great little projects. Thanks for giving links. Did the sleeping bag one take long? It seems a bit fiddly to me but I like the idea of putting sewing supplies together.

  15. Initially I didn't notice the selvage until you mentioned it - such a cool effect- I have a stash of selvages that may work for this kind of project - the zipper pouch is very cool! Great finishes!

  16. The batting doesn't look too thick from here (in Australia)!
Endless zipper?! How does that work? Is it a special zipper or just a clever pattern?
I have been hoarding selvedges with no idea what to do with them, and I like what you have done. Thanks for the inspiration.
