Throwback Thursday

My real quilting adventure began in 2012 when I got new sewing machine for my Bday. Since I didn't consider myself as an quilter I did not invest in fabrics much. There was a good deal for this gnome fabric and I got the whole roll :) + some Ikea fabric.

2012 was also the year of first Zakka Along. This pattern is from Zakka Style book which we all used. It was my first Sew Along and I made few friends back than. It is a baby size.

I continued with SAL called Hexagon Festival. I combined few tutorial which were featured as part of the SAL.

It looks like I always had a tendency to sort colors somehow :) This is my first regular quilt.

I quilted around hexagons and added some hand quilting to it as well.

What's on the back?

Gnomes again! Guess what, I still have some :)

Thank you for joining me in Throwback Thursday - 2012 edition :)

  1. I like your color sense, even in that first quilt it is intriguing. I love the hexagons, they are one of my current favorite shapes. Great job and thanks for throwing back!

  2. LOL Vera, you bought the whole roll of gnomes? It is awfully cute and versatile. The baby quilt is darling! I'm just amazed that you jumped right into those hexagons in the beginning of your quilting journey.

  5. I think I might have considered buying an entire bolt of those gnomes as well, especially if the price was right. I love the quilt inspired by the Hexagon Festival... very tempting to add some of those blocks to my to do list! Thanks for linking up with Throwback Thursday!

  6. I love that gnome fabric! I would have bought the whole bolt too. It would be fun to sneak little gnomes into projects...they are sneaky little creatures. Great job on your quilts.

  7. Of course you needed a whole bolt of gnomes!
I love the hexagon quilt. I can already see the beginnings of the Vera style.

  8. I enjoyed gnoming you a little better today through your post. (Just had to!)

Simple is good. I love seeing how quilters evolve in technique and process. I admit to still having fabric from my first quilts in stash, and remember wondering if 5 yards of something would be enough. Now it's a one yard buy or less unless I eye it up for backing.

    Love your gnomes, friend!

  11. The whole bolt! That's a lot of gnomes. But what fun. They make a great baby quilt. And the hexies are an amazing choice for a first quilt. So cool! And the gnomes on that one are a fun surprise, too.
