I had this crazy idea since the theme Heroes was announced. Last night I made this rather simple project. Let me introduce you the Superman's pants!
I made the belt loop with trapunto technique. It's not very visible though. I have added extra layer of batting to the middle part of the pants. Once I added the second layer underneath the whole thing it created kind of pocket so I stuff it a bit more. I wanted Superman's pants not a pair of undies. It may seem I have overdone it but hey, we are talking Superman here not your next door neighbor!
I knew you are going to ask: What's inside those Superman's pants. So there you have it. Walnuts?!?!
The back is rather simple.
Since I have just participated in Pin it blog hop I got little side tracked. All that stuffing seems just right for pins. After all I might have the craziest sewing pouch/kit you have ever seen.
I admit I created this project purely and entirely for fun. That's what I do. Sew for fun. If my post made you smile, I call it: Mission complete!
PS: that yellow is bright as you can imagine. I'm just a bad photographer.
Linking up to Le Challenge since I really like to see how others interpret the theme.

Pin it Blog hop
Welcome to my stop of Pin it Blog hop. Thank you Madame Samm for organizing and Kristen for being our cheerleader! Procrastination is nothing new to me so no wonder I made make my pincushion just yesterday. I had this cake on mind. It's inspired by mug rug pattern called Coffee and Cake by The Patchsmith. Check her pattern store for more cute designs. Well the first idea was to make it out of felt. I'm sure you seen some cute felt cakes out there BUT I had no felt in suitable color. Yikes! I had to find alternative. Isn't using scraps the best alternative? So here it is - Scrapalicious cake. Yummy!

I wasn't happy about those visible stitches so I covered them up with hand stitches - chain stitch. |
Two years ago I used to make pincushions filled with foam. I was adding magnet to the bottom. They were all pretty I still have one myself but I feel like it makes the pins dull so I'm not using that foam any more.
Thank you for dropping by and I hope you are not superstitious as it's Friday 13th and here is the full schedule:
*UPDATE* I used THIS tut to make the felt cream

WiP small progress
I made small progress on Ballerina quilt. I added roof and all seven houses are almost complete. I'll be adding chimney but I need to test it out first. I'm a bit behind the schedule since my girl celebrated her seventh B-day already. The most important thing to her is always the cake so she doesn't mind getting the quilt little late. This year she wanted some Lego friends on it. She asked for little horse, grass and flowers. That made the cake making very easy and she was pleased with the result.
I have prewashed the solid fabrics for MSBHQAL. You can read all about the fabric choice in my previous post if you interested.
Plus I felt like little paper piecing. I'm making another Hexagon trivet as a gift for my friend. I simply had to get this idea out of my head. I'm yet to quilt it and add the binding.

Sunday Stash - MSBHQAL edition
There was pile of solids and all kind of stripes. |
I sorted those into some color groups to give me an idea where I want to go with the quilt top. I'm definitely mixing those solids with prints. Few bits did not make it into my fabric choice but I'm sure I'll find some use for them as well.
There are quite a few Oval elements. |
Urban mod and many others. |
These don't really fit my color scheme. You know I'm not a big friend with blue and yellow. |
Those don't seem to fit either but do not worry about their safety, lol. |
Perfect timing for package filled with fabrics. Otherwise I would take you into my stash filled with dots and other local stuff and such. Now it's your turn to show your stash. As others would say: Flash your stash!

Ribbon bow and Herringbone
The inspiration comes from a Tshirt. |
Back side. |
I only stitched the middle part on left and right side. |
Last week I tested one block for MSBHQAL. You know Miss B. is all over the blogosphere right now celebrating her one year blogiversary so you might want to check it/her/him out. Yeah they might be triplets or more otherwise I'm not sure how one person manages to spread so much sparkle everywhere.
I had the trial pillow cover on my table as I was sorting out ideas for the quilt. What if I don't make squares but I'll keep going and make strip instead? What if I change the width of some stripes used for creating the Herringbone pattern? You know the buzz in the head. I simply had to make another pillow cover. There is definitely room for modification.
I keep the back sides simple. |
Don't ask me how my quilt is going to look. I'll be making this quilt for a friend of mine and she sent me her fabrics. I received the surprise package already so if you want to know what's inside come back on Sunday. I'll be hosting Sunday Stash and I hope you'll join in.
