Rainbow

Pink and red zipper has started this rainbow project. You can check those in my previous post.

Orange zipper used with log cabin piece.

Yellow with my fav four colour combo.

Green with 7 colours of chakras.

Turquoise is one of the OMG pouches.

My fav is this one with zipper leftovers. Indigo. This is how I made it.

I sewed one piece by one.

Similar like sewing with selvage.

And last one is violet.

Did you know there is a meaning behind rainbow colours? With a little help from Mr. Google:
Each of the original eight colours represented an idea: pink for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sun, green for nature, blue for art, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit. Before becoming synonymous with fabulous pride movements, the rainbow flag has stood for many social movements.

Rainbow feels and sounds like a suitable word of 2020.

100 zippers

Last year I have participated in #the100dayproject and completed few projects out of my drawer so I wanted to join in this year as well.

It started on April 2nd. I ordered 100 zippers and they arrived right on that day.

I did not catch on yet but we'll see. I promised to make a pouch for my daughter's friend. She likes Avengers so I googled their logo and printed it.

I didn't know how to transfer it so I just sewed over the paper :D

I used thick thread which is used for top stitching jeans. My machine didn't like it that much but made it through.

Both pouches are made in my usual style. Out of one piece of fabric, no seam at the bottom and the zipper end as handle.

There are many to come ... hopefully

The pink circles are hand stitched.

The 100 day project - part 3

I'm still trying to be creative and make stuff out of my drawers. These two cute pouches are made out of scraps and leftovers.

Here is a peak at my IG account. I did not manage to create every day but that's fine by me.

These are postage stamp blocks. Technique I really like to use. Here is tutorial on how to do it.

Pouches are made out of one piece. 66 squares in total.

As usual I made the handle out of long zipper.

Q1 - pig cushion

Pig cushion is finished. Time to check another project of my FAL list. 3/6 is my current score.

I wasn't sure how to quilt it so anyhow was the way to go :)

When I plan to use cover as gift I like to bind the edges inside. No threads sticking out anywhere.

The only disadvantage of such binding is the corners are not perfect as there is a little bulk inside.

I'm fine with that though. The back is plain and simple.

OMG - 01 finished

On the very last day I have completed my OMG goal.

My goal was to try out this tut called Prairie Point Pouch Tutorial. I have adjusted the size to zippers I had on hand. I have also tried larger points on one of those pouches. I found scrap of that fabric and wanted to use it all.

See the back side. You don't need large piece of accent fabric that's why I still have some left even though I  made my accent stripes wider.

I haven't tried this type of zipper assembly before.

Looks good on the end. No bulk.

I must practise some more on the front side. I have a small gap on two of those but still looking fine.

I have put those pouches on my FAL Q1 list as well, so that's 2/6 completed.

Q1 - paper tin covers

I have finished all eight paper tin covers. Yay! My first finish out of my FAL list.

Why did I choose such fabric combination? To match my board :)

As for the board, I have used post stamp blocks. See the tutorial here. It's great technique and you get such pretty points.

I always like the middle stage when the squares become rectangles.

The not so fun part is ironing those seams open.

The result is well worth it. Those tins fits perfectly on my rod.

Piece of ribbon and button do the trick. These covers are pretty easy to make. I took few pictures during the process so I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in tutorial?
