OMG - 02 finished

As usual I completed my goal on the very last date with just a few spare hours left. February 29th which means extra day this year :)

The size of the cushion is 16".

The back side is simple. Just a hidden zipper. The newspaper print is a local fabric which have no name and I'll run out of it soon.

The quilting is simple too. Just a few straight lines.

I completed it just before the sun went down. As side project I had 9 small heart blocks which will end up as cushion No.2 and probably as my March goal.

Scrap/blog challenge

It seems that my blog got a little neglected this year so perfect time to reflect on it.

I have to admit I haven't read blogs either. It is so easy to go through pics on Instagram. Join in with a hashtag, like pictures just by clicking. You all know it.

Are blogs "dead" these days? Who knows. I'll try to revive mine next year and we'll see how it goes.

I'll be working on this scarp challenge. It fits well with my goal of using 100 zippers which I bought in April.

Oh yes, This type of pouch is still my fav.

Squares and stripes are the best way to use up any scraps.

It is challenging though since random placement isn't my kind of thing. Well I try but you can still notice some type of order :) Dark side, light side but at least the zipper pulls matches from one point of view.

Q1 - paper tin covers

I have finished all eight paper tin covers. Yay! My first finish out of my FAL list.

Why did I choose such fabric combination? To match my board :)

As for the board, I have used post stamp blocks. See the tutorial here. It's great technique and you get such pretty points.

I always like the middle stage when the squares become rectangles.

The not so fun part is ironing those seams open.

The result is well worth it. Those tins fits perfectly on my rod.

Piece of ribbon and button do the trick. These covers are pretty easy to make. I took few pictures during the process so I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in tutorial?

2018 FAL Q1 list

Time to make the list for Q1. Here is mine:

Some projects are new. Some are pretty old.

I started paper tin covers. I made one as trial and pretty much love it.

Prairie point pouches are my current OMG goal.

I precut some fabrics and vinyl in December. Time to finish those vinyl pouches.

Pig cushion to be finished.

Echino bag in progress.

And ongoing project love wall hanging.

Square mode

Once I finished the Enderman cushion I realized there are more kids hooked on Minecraft and the patterns are great for scraps too.

Look at these oddly looking scraps. I couldn't even get the green color. Not my type of color but perfect for a zombie character :)

I didn't even lay the face out since it's pretty easy.

Zombie is currently taking break on my ironing board since there is new priority. Another Bday party and another gift to be made.

It's for a girl so let's do something in pink. Yeah, the Pig!

My scrap was not big enough so I had to add 3 square from different fabric. At first I put the 3 squares randomly in there but no I had to change that and add one more. Now they sit happily at each corner making my orderly self happy again :)

Once I'm done with these two there is one more pile. Any tips who will that be? Yes, Skeleton :)

Enderman cushion

Another cushion, another gift. This time it's for a boy.

Once I had all squares cut I chain pieced the rows. The cushion is 40x40cm and I cut 2" squares. Yeah I usually mix measurements and use cm and inches at once :)

I used this minecraft design and my girl chosen Enderman.

I made the lining a bit bigger and binded the inside like I did in previous case. I like my gifts to be pretty and with no raw edges.

That's how I quilted it. I didn't want to do just squares.

The back is plain, hidden zipper.
