Q4 - love wall hanging

This LOVE wall hanging has been on my FAL list for a while. I pieced the top together in 2014 as an 10 years anniversary project and finally it is finished.

At first I wanted FMQ it but as the time was passing by and my FMQ practice kept at zero level I changed my plans and I done some matchstick quilting instead.

Matchstick quilting is pretty simple but time consuming. The texture it makes is so worthy though.

Here is a peak at the back. I put hanging corners at all of them plus a hanging sleeve on top.

I use interfacing which is faster and easier option than a classic fabric.

We have already hanged it and we like the result. As usual I do see some minor mistakes and I would change a bit here or there but that's just part of the process. I better concentrate on the next UFO :)

Time to make the list for Q1. Here is mine:

Some projects are new. Some are pretty old.

I started paper tin covers. I made one as trial and pretty much love it.

Prairie point pouches are my current OMG goal.

I precut some fabrics and vinyl in December. Time to finish those vinyl pouches.

Pig cushion to be finished.

Oh Scrap!

Welcome to my post for Oh Scrap! linky party. I enjoy playing with scraps and Cynthia has many ideas in store. That's why I like to follow her blog and I'm honored to be featured there.

I started with some tiny strips. When it comes to scraps I say: If you cannot sew them - fuse them!
I use light weight fusible interfacing.

This was  my first take on strips and I would definitely recommend to place them much closer together. Maybe even overlap a bit. Once I quilted it there were visible gaps which I had to fix later.

I quilted over the gaps with triple stitch to hide them completely. Much better!

I also wanted to try ticker tape kind of block. Both projects have raw edges.
Now a little how to pics. Creating tin cover is pretty easy.

Once I'm happy with quilting on the middle part I mark the size of my tin. See the black line on top and bottom? It is good to cut of batting which is shown in right bottom corner. I use Frixion pen so this line will disappear once I iron it.

Just fold down the overlapping fabric and top stitch the edges on both sides.

Wrap around your tin and make marks on both sides as well. Don't make it too tight.

I draw a line from the marks on both sides. I fold over, pin and sew right on the line. Cut of and turn around.

And that's all. Just slide it on your tin.

I like to put piece of foam inside when used for pens.

This color combo is definitely my fav. Have you noticed? :)

I made some tin covers before. They are great for using scraps, QAYG technique or your selvages.

I'm sure you can use some tins yourself. So have fun making them!

2015 FAL - Q1 list

Here we go. This is my FAL Q1 list. I made my list in Google Keep style with plenty of boxes to tick off, lol.

#1 - bed side wall hanging. I need to add some small borders around and B side will be finished. The question is: Am I going to be able to make my mind about side A?

#2 - love quilt. I need to get into baste and FMQ mood for this one.

More projects in various stages.

#3 - Lucy hobo bag. See those squares behind my machine.

#4 - super tote. I have the pattern printed. I wanted different fabric last quarter but I'm going with this hexagon Echino, bottom right.

#5 - Christmas robin PP. I'm hoping to finally make it for Christmas 2015.

#6 - Hazel hedgehog quilt. I bought the pattern during Christmas sales and I would love to make it soon.

#7 - envelope organizer. I only have a space for small version but I can already see it up there, lol.

LOVE anniversary

I wanted to make something for our 10th anniversary. As some of you brought up question about that circle in my header I dust off my old plans and started another Love project. I really like this design (not mine) and I have plans for quilt as well. This is about to become wall hanging. You can read about the inspiration and previous projects here.

I made full size templates to help me visualize the whole thing and make sure I have right size. I added seam allowance and cut out the shapes.

First I pieced the triangle and added square, plus fairly simple rectangles to the other side. I wanted round circle so no piecing but I used hand appliqué technique.

Here it is with the first Love project - mug rug. Current size 31x43". I just need to figure out how to quilt it. Probably it will become another practice piece for my FMQ adventure. 

The time really does fly. So far we did not celebrate our anniversary. Honestly I wouldn't remember the date if we didn't have it written inside the rings. It is not a big deal really but this time around we went out and had dinner and spent some time without our lovely girls. My husband had a surprise gift for me. Dotty box filled with some fabric love. Yay! I'll show you what's inside on Sunday Stash ;-)
