Goal achieved

Did you know my middle name is Procrastination? I did not work on any other projects but I was doing many little things just to avoid this beast. I pieced the two rows yesterday and finished today. Hurray!

This finally makes my May/June/July goal of ALYoF complete. The fence makes pretty quilting pattern don't you think?

And the sun is going down :)

The birds are still my favorite.

I also like the flowers. Especially the orange one.

Not all the points are perfect. Look at that blue tulip which is missing some points, oops.

I have the batting ready and the B side as well so I need to move on into quilting stage which usually takes even longer than piecing.

And that's the end of story :) The full moon took over the sun and since it's Friday I'm linking up with Finish it up and more.

May/June/July goal

I feel sorry for you since you get to see this over again and again :)

Let's hope, third time's a charm!

BTW as I was ironing the kissing birds block I burned the eye (sequin), eeek so there is only french knot left. Good for me it only made the sequin's hole bigger but it didn't leave any mess on iron or fabric.

Here is where I'm at. So once again my goal for ALYoF is to piece these blocks to finally create a quilt top (wall hanging).

May/June goal

My goal for ALYoF remains the same as for May. To piece the top of Elephant parade together.

I definitely succeed on the "Make Epic Shit" goal but it is something I could not link up.
I quit my job and I already found a new one which I started on June 1st. Yay! I'll keep you posted how is that going. I don't want to get too excited. I'm happy about that change that's for sure.

I also pieced quilt top together. First one this year! I'll share more about that soon.

I felt so behind with my feed but I'm all caught up. I realized I don't need to leave comment on every post I'm reading. Sometimes I simply do not know what to add or how to respond.

I haven't managed to look at the quilts at Bloggers' quilt festival yet. I seen the posts coming but there were more important things to do. I didn't have any quilt to submit this time around.

That pretty much sums up my May.

Back to my project. I decided I'll make the eyes for parade out of spangle. That is one giant French knot on spangle you are looking at, lol.

I have never heard the word spangle before so I hope my dictionary doesn't lie. Do you really call these things spangle?

Elephant scraps

I finish 4 last blocks for my Elephant parade wall hanging.

It's time to put these together and piece the top. I'll probably move to floor since my batting on the wall is not big enough or I should say not wide enough.

The colors are a bit off.

I ended up with pile of scraps and I didn't want to put them into drawer. I fused them to interfacing and they are ready for pouches or mug rugs or for whatever. We'll see.

Birds and flowers

Where do I start? I wasn't in the mood for sewing lately. My top priority is sleep. I'm so awfully tired and not in the mood for anything at all. I just want to hibernate but there is spring outside already.

Anyway. My girl asked about her quilt and I was going like:
Aaaww what quilt?
Mom, the one we'll hang next to my bed!
Ooooh, that quilt!

So I was forced to make some progress on Elephant parade quilt.

She wanted the birds facing each other. These might be my favorite so far.

Next up were the flowers. Unfortunately the tulip instructions are no longer available due to some copyright issues but we wanted to have some. Luckily I found tutorial for this type of tulip. I just used the leaves from Lorna's blocks. They turned out pretty well if you ask me :)

I thought I only do one line of these blocks and add some HSTs or triangles to the bottom but my girl wants two lines so expect few more blocks to come.

You can find all the instructions here. Thank you very much Lorna for sharing!

These blocks just created some more scraps to play with. Oh NO! :)

Elephant parade

Have you seen the elephants everywhere? Oh yes, there is Elephant parade QAL and you don't want to miss it!

Sew Fresh Quilts

I'm going scrappy. I knew I wanted to make some elephants. I love grey but my daughter not so much so she asked me to do them colorful instead.

I used these batiks in number of projects last year and there are only last few bits. Probably just enough for an A side of bed side wall hanging.

Once you have all the pieces cut, the piecing goes pretty quickly.

That is mom and dad plus the baby elephants.

I'm feeling pretty well making these blocks on time so here comes little challenge. Am I going to be able to use those tiny bits for something? Stay tuned!
