Le Challenge - fine

Let's try something new for Le Challenge. The theme is FINE.

I bought new bracelet and I thought I could make some too. I used leather scraps. I consider leather as a fine material.

It's pretty easy. I made two because I like to make two at the time. I can either give it to someone or wear them separately or both at the same time. We'll see.

I used baby press buttons as closure

The color of leather I used matches with my new hair. Coincidence? Not really :)

There is fine line between genius and insanity.

Le Challenge - round

Here is my project for Le Challenge. The theme is ROUND. I cut up 4 circle scraps and made two pouches. Similar but different.

Which one do you like better? Circles and anyhow quilting or the more organized lines on right?

I like both. It's always fun to explore more than just one idea.

Here is the other side. Don't you like the effect of warm side and cool side. I do.

I have also tried something new. I glued leather scrap to the zipper end. Hopefully it'll last :) If not, I'll add few stitches.

Color accent on zipper pull is another thing that I like.

Le challenge - teddy

This month's Le Challenge theme is Gold. I was about to make some jewellery but I prefer silver so no gold in my stash. I went through my fabrics and the only one with something gold was this blue sky with stars.

Let's kill two birds with one stone and make something. My girl asked me for a new sleeping teddy. She left it on my table so I won't forget to make one and that is exactly how the idea was born.

I finished the teddy last night. I only snapped two quick shots and it went to bed with my girl. Today teddy spent the day at preschool and it is going to be fav for a while I guess.

I used pattern from Zakka style book. I made this pillow with pink teddy back in 2012 during the Zakka along.

It is made out of polar fleece which I used for quilt backing.

Le challenge - Scraptastic Direction

Remember those scraps from Elephant parade? One was just right for this month's Le Challenge - Direction theme. It would be too big for mug rug but just right to cover up paper tin which resulted into pencil holder :)

The size was really just right.

Here is spot where the geese meet. Cool!

I also quilted other two fused pieces and this will become mug rug.

Matchstick quilting is just perfect for these small projects and raw edge scraps. Don't forget to link up with Scraptastic Tuesday too.

Le Challenge - wood

It's that time of the month! Le Challenge!

When I have too many ideas or none at all I turn to Google and search for pics. When I typed the word WOOD I got a lot of wooden floors.

I also go for classic combos like linen and leather or B&W variation. I sewed the zipper in first and added the leather pieces later on. I used french knots to attach them.

I would definitely recommend to use pliers for pulling the thread through leather. To be honest I'm not so thrilled with the result. The knots are uneven and the whole thing is little wonky due to stretching material.

On the other hand it was fun to just create for the beauty of creating. That is exactly what I like about Le Challenge. Just create something on the given theme.

I ran out of linen so the back is bit funky but still matches well with the zipper.

That's it. All done. The next theme is SINGLE. No idea since I prefer to make stuff at last minute, lol.

Le Challenge - Tradition

It became tradition to take a part in Le Challenge. How is that for theme? Did I pass? :)

As usual I made quick last minute project. This time I recycled fabric pictures. These used to hang in the girl's room. I just added eye.

Just to make it clear. I made those pictures. Painted the frames and all that :)

They have been in a drawer for a while so I'm glad I finally used it.

Here is little recap. I was curious myself. I learned about Le Challenge when my pouch matched the theme Maritime and Alli suggested in comments I take a part in it. She left a link and I'm glad she did. My score is 16/21 :)

This month's theme for Le Challenge is Passion.
There are many ways how you can interpret the theme.

What are my passions when it comes to quilting/sewing ? Hmmmm, I'm going with:

- color order
- scraps (yes, those are the tiny triangles from Elephant parade blocks)
- matchstick quilting
- hand quilting
- pouches
- matchy zippers

But my BIGGEST passion is probably to combine them all.

I made this pouch out of one exterior piece and one lining piece. There is no seam at the bottom which is my fav type of pouch. You can find the tut here.

The back is pretty simple but it still has pretty texture.
