Love mini

One more finish from my FAL Q4 list is this mini. That makes it 2/5.

Plus my sewing space got some updates. I did go through my drawers but more sorting is required.

I made decision to have no visible binding on front side. I left overlapping fabric to create binding at the back.

I have no idea what this technique is called.

I used local pearl cotton which I have in many color shades. It is called Perlovka.

I'm not sure if my binding method was good idea and I'm little pissed that the embroidery is not well centered. You know those doubts when you finish something.

For those curious souls it ended up 6x9".

OMG 10 - finished

We are half way through October and I finished my goal already. Yippee! I did not procrastinate this time which is unusual.

My goal was to try out this tutorial. Those tiny pouches looked so cute I wanted some as well.
Patty who hosts OMG each month also pointed out I should link into Bag It event so if you have any pouches or bags come join in.

As you can see I didn't really thought about on which side I insert the loop with lobster clasp so I have a variety :)

Here is a peak at the back side.

I also enlarged the pouch a bit. I had a 5.5" zipper so I cut out the vinyl 5.5x9" see above picture for comparison. It's better to use larger zipper and cut it since I was not able to top stitch on those pink versions as I couldn't open up the zipper.

I did not overlock the edges but I have burned them over the candle. I done it once I took the pics and saw some thread sticking out. Better to do it prior turning inside out.

I already gave away those pink ones as my girls were both invited to Bday parties this weekend. Different friends and parties but who wouldn't like some pink goodies :)
Since my needle is dull from sewing vinyl I might make some more.
I have also put vinyl pouches on my Q4 list so that makes it 1/5.

Mixing May

Where did May go? I tried some french knots. I would like to turn this into mini but how am I going to quilt this? Add more knots to fill up the whole space? That's where my thoughts are going..

Here is progress shot for comparison. At first it looked way too organized so I added few more knots here and there. I'm quite happy with the result.

I wanted linen type of fabric for background so I used cheap table runner. I didn't even cut it yet :)

I'm not sewing much lately. I spent time experimenting in the kitchen, gardening and other stuff. I'm also trying to read. That's first and second book of GOT as I wanted to know what the fuss is all about. I have never read such a thick books before and I have few more ahead.

I keep on playing with scraps. That's my latest experiment.

Look at that ridiculous detail :)

My girls are going to Bday party on Friday. Last night I was checking some fabrics and planning on making bags but I ended up with different plan.

Anyway I matched them well :) but I'm going for cushions instead. Here's a peak.

PQ 8.1

I'm thrilled to share my mini for Project Quilting theme 8 is Great. My design is based on this 8 pointed origami star. You can read about my trial here.

I had simplify it to suit fabrics.

So I draw it and cut out just one section as my template.

My mini ended up 7" square. I did not center it as I prefer off set settings.

I did not marked anything while quilting so these lines are not perfectly straight and I did not aim for perfect spacing either. I call this anyhow style :)

I have added hanging corners and I like this choice for backing fabric. It's a scrap I found in my stash.

It was fun to look for spot where to take picture. All white snow was kind of boring.
For those new to my blog I'm adding info about my location. I blog from currently freezing Europe. The very heart of it called the Czech Republic.

I enjoy seeing all the different interpretation of this theme. I have already saw some pretty cool projects. Please see for yourself @PersimonDreams site and vote for your favorites.

Q1 - mini

My first finish of the 2016 FAL list is #9 mini. It's also my OMG goal for January. Yes, I'm killing two birds with one stone :) no actually three :))

It's made out of 20 scraps and it also caries out my word for the year 2016 which is TWENTY.
I choose this word to remind myself that even 20 minutes a day can make a difference. I was also inspired by #sewtake20

I quilted straight lines in number of colors. Each hexagon is crossed twice which can be interpreted like checking of my goals.

I was asked by my hubby if I'm making a map. It sort of looks like map of Czechoslovakia which no longer exists. We are Czech Republic and Slovakia these days.

Anyway I decided to change the direction as it suits my space better.

It doesn't really look like my first drafts but that's the way I roll.
See, fits perfectly :)
