Recap

In April I wanted to make a post to recap the first quarter of this year. It wasn't that bad even though I did not post as much as I originally planned. Current worldwide situation has speed up the time somehow so the April passed by so quickly and I did not managed.

But it's a new month. New beggining.

I made this pouch probably in March. I had these pics in camera for a while. Both sides are different. I used small scraps which I found in my drawer.

I liked the result so I made one more from the remaining scraps.

Again. Different on each side.

As usual I just put the colours in order. It's just the way I do it.

I have borrowed a book from library with cute softies. I wanted to make some with my girsl but so far I only managed two lambs.

In April #the100dayproject started over at Instagram. I had intentions to make a little bit every day and use this project as extra motivation but the effect was the opposite. I felt forced to create and post so I took a break. We'll see if I join back in. I might.

These days are uneasy for all of us. We all coap differently with current situation. For me personally it's like a roller coaster ride. There are better days and there are those which we just have to push through. I hope you all are safe and sound. Stay well <3

Echino

Never heard of Echino fabric? It's the most beautiful fabric for bag making. Thanks to google I can provide full definition: Echino is the range of fabrics by Etsuko Furuya for Kokka Japan. Fresh,funky and slightly retro designs. Many of these fabrics are a cotton linen mix of a medium to heavyweight and are ideal for craft projects, bags, cushions etc.

I love the colours, prints and texture.

My husband brought me this fabric in two colourways directly from Japan but it's available in many fabric shops all over the world.

During January I made these simple pocket like pouches plus this little one from cutting leftovers.

I have few more prints and I love them all. I will be making new bag soon since the one I previously made is worn out from the daily use. 

OMG - 01 completed

I made it! I completed the pouches today. No daylight available so pictures on my table will have to do the trick. Here is the goal setting post.

This year I even got calendar but as you see I haven't turned into this week yet :)

This one is the smallest. 1 cent for size comparison.

This one is the largest.

That's it. First month of the year is gone and I done pretty well. I was creative almost every day for a little a bit. I blogged more than last year and I even have few more things to take pictures of. Let's see what February brings.

Rainbow

Pink and red zipper has started this rainbow project. You can check those in my previous post.

Orange zipper used with log cabin piece.

Yellow with my fav four colour combo.

Green with 7 colours of chakras.

Turquoise is one of the OMG pouches.

My fav is this one with zipper leftovers. Indigo. This is how I made it.

I sewed one piece by one.

Similar like sewing with selvage.

And last one is violet.

Did you know there is a meaning behind rainbow colours? With a little help from Mr. Google:
Each of the original eight colours represented an idea: pink for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sun, green for nature, blue for art, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit. Before becoming synonymous with fabulous pride movements, the rainbow flag has stood for many social movements.

Rainbow feels and sounds like a suitable word of 2020.

Felt edition

Last year I started these pouches with felt. Finally I have finished all of them.

Firstly I made these two. It's such a simple addition to denim but I like these two the most.

I continued with this twist.

These year I took this old wip and finished larger twist with pink zipper.

And sortly followed this one with red zipper. These were the first finishes of this year which resulted into completely new rainbow project. I'll talk about it more in my next post as this is dedicated to felt. It's so easy to work with and the outcome is just fine.

OMG - 01 + rainbow

I'm starting out the year as usual with OMG - One Monthly Goal. My project might look familiar to some. It was actually my OMG May 2019 goal.

I have named this project May the 4th as I started it on May 4th but I have changed my starting plans. Redoing some projects might not always work.

As you see I ended up with just one Darth Vader and stitched down the black center just as is for the other three. My goal is to finally finish these up.

I also changed my first pick of zippers. I have probably put the original pick back into drawer during past few months. The next step is to cut the lining and sew it all together.

Small finish which I did not share on blog. Made in 2019. There are definitely plans for some hand embroidery this year too.

Scrap/blog challenge

It seems that my blog got a little neglected this year so perfect time to reflect on it.

I have to admit I haven't read blogs either. It is so easy to go through pics on Instagram. Join in with a hashtag, like pictures just by clicking. You all know it.

Are blogs "dead" these days? Who knows. I'll try to revive mine next year and we'll see how it goes.

I'll be working on this scarp challenge. It fits well with my goal of using 100 zippers which I bought in April.

Oh yes, This type of pouch is still my fav.

Squares and stripes are the best way to use up any scraps.

It is challenging though since random placement isn't my kind of thing. Well I try but you can still notice some type of order :) Dark side, light side but at least the zipper pulls matches from one point of view.
