Scrap/blog challenge

It seems that my blog got a little neglected this year so perfect time to reflect on it.

I have to admit I haven't read blogs either. It is so easy to go through pics on Instagram. Join in with a hashtag, like pictures just by clicking. You all know it.

Are blogs "dead" these days? Who knows. I'll try to revive mine next year and we'll see how it goes.

I'll be working on this scarp challenge. It fits well with my goal of using 100 zippers which I bought in April.

Oh yes, This type of pouch is still my fav.

Squares and stripes are the best way to use up any scraps.

It is challenging though since random placement isn't my kind of thing. Well I try but you can still notice some type of order :) Dark side, light side but at least the zipper pulls matches from one point of view.

Q1 - Envelope organizer

First project from my FAL Q1 list is finished (1/7). When I'm looking at he pictures I think I should have used B&W binding instead. As I didn't measure so well the background fabric is not very visible.

Anyway I like this B&W combo and with all these dots I used it fits perfectly for this month Le Challenge theme. The reason why I used white binding is because it fits well on the wall.

The back is plain white. I only quilted one way.

I have also quilted around each envelope. Plus I top stitched the top edge of the pocket which you can not see on my crappy pics.

I almost forgot I made it my February goal of ALYoF as well.

ALYoF - February goal

Before I introduce you to my February goal, please meet my delayed January goal. Scrappy Log cabins wall hanging.

I added one square to one side. It looks a bit wonky but I hope the quilting will take care of it.

And two little ones on the other side. It no longer fits on my wall. Not sure if I'll be making it any wider. I only have few scraps left. We'll see.

Let's move on into February though. I'm going with Envelope organizer as my ALYoF goal.

I only need two envelopes which sounds quite doable. I'm using B&W fabrics and pattern from Patchwork, Please! book.

Le Challenge - Ink

This month's theme is Ink. I was a bit clueless but as others I choose some newspaper print. I was also reminded about the need to make phone case. You know, those relatives, lol.

I used this tutorial (in Czech). When you pull the band the phone comes up a bit so it's easier to get it out. It worked out pretty well. I call this successful trial. The back is really simple.

At first I pulled out some scraps of the above fabric and I wanted to make another one exterior piece pouch. I'll still be making it but for now it is my project for Scraptastic Tuesday linky party.

MM - quilted pouch

Time for little Monday make. Here is how my quilted piece ended up. The construction is like in this tut if you interested to try your own.

That is how it looks inside out. I bind it the edges with red because that is what I had on hand and because you can put anything with B&W combo. Plus it is fun when some color peaking out inside.

The pouch turned out little small and I have no idea what to put inside. I probably give it away to someone :) The starting piece was about 22x32cm and the pouch ended up as 13x9x6cm.

What is up next? Well I should finally finish pouch for my girl. She made this embroidery while ago and it's time to make something useful out of it.

Warming up

I'm warming up for some quilting so I played around with small projects. I wanted to finish package for Michele. I hope she'll like it. So first I finished up mug rug.

Honestly I'm not sure about the binding choice. The back is fairly simple and I cut the fabric a bit wonky. Oh well, let's call that negligent style.

Then I wanted to try out new to me tutorial. It is called sleeping bag pouch. I picked up scrap of batting which is kind of too thick so I'm not so happy with the result.

I liked the idea with endless zipper and I used the other half for different shape. Just flat round corner pouch.

I played with some selvages which creates pretty colorful piece. As I like to hang pouches I added handle. I'm thinking about some other option. I'm probably not done with twisting this pattern.

Q3 - Demons done

I finished few more lines on it and put it on pin board. You cannot take the board apart so I just tucked the edges underneath the frame. Meet the Demons!

Here is before shot. Not bad but I didn't like it next to Pantone mini. There used to be red section=hot, deadlines, orange=hurry up, pink=ideas. This sorting system only lasted a little while. 

My current view. I'll be working on mug rug for the giveaway and announce the winner on Monday.
