Blogger's Quilt Festival - ROYGBIV

To finish this quilt was on my FAL list for a while. It is my only goal for Q3.
To be honest I was afraid to put the binding on as I feared I'll ruin it. So I have admired the quilting made by my friend Monika until Blogger's Quilt Festival gave me the last push.

ROYGBIV has always been my fav category since I'm sucker for rainbow projects.

My quilt is modified version of Jaybird Quilts pattern Mini Disco. You can read about the making here.

Firstly it was regular size quilt orientated differently but it turned into piece of art so wall hanging it is now. Monika's quilting took it a level up.

She asked me what my fav color is and made the back in it. The texture is fabulous.

No time to look for extra photo shoot spot so the corn field and our fences will do the job. It looks weird with the light coming through but I like it anyway.

I have to admit I have no mixed feeling with this one. I just love it! The perfectly mixed colors and amazing quilting. I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking at it. I might be puking rainbows forever.

Q2 - DM quilt

Finally I'm sharing finished DM quilt in full. You can find it on my Q2 FAL list here.

I always wanted to do some reflection pics with my quilt so we took it outside.

Thumb up for my quilt holder aka hubby :)

I made this quilt top during Delectable Mountains Blog hop back in 2015. I have added subtle border around the top to prevent loosing some points in binding.

It is partially hand quilted and machine quilted with zig zag stitch. The back is very snuggly and you can read about it here.

Not the best picture of quilt but I had to share it anyway.

Grey + colors in order = my fav combo.

OMG finished

Beleive it or not I have completed my OMG April goal! Yay!

Here is little tip for you. I add my binding on prior squaring the quilt. The backing is stretchy and it is much easier to work with it this way.

Yeah right, I don't really square my quilts. Once you have some pattern and border I rather go by visual appearance than perfectly square quilt.

See no puckers. I quilted some parts by hand. Only two layers - top and batting plus simple echo pattern quilting with zigzag stitch once backing added.

Plus the material is kind of messy once you cut into it. That's why I left it to the very end.

I used zigzag stich on binding as well. It deserves some extra photo shoot so stay tuned for more pics of the whole quilt :)

OMG April

Let's face it. I did not meet my March goal. Am I going to choose the same one? No! I'll go with one even more ambitious.

I'm going to finish my DM quilt. Yeah! I read my horoscope and I'll have a great month! :) :D

Here is full pic in case you do not remember it.

Q1 - grey bag

My grey bag was not only my OMG February goal but it is also on my Q1 list - #7

I prefer zipper closure so here is my modification to original pattern called Madeline bag.

Plus all my bags must have zippered pocket on one side. My fav bags have pink one which brought a bit of color to my grey bag.

Grey on the outside but fun and dots on the inside.

Here is comparison to well known Super tote. I used similar or maybe the same interfacing but the new one hold its shape better. True to be told, it's empty but my Super tote is filled with stuff. It is a also a bit smaller.

I like the ties feature. It changes the shape of bag a lot. From a tote to purse kind of thing :)

Since I made this bag for myself it was also my selfish sewing goal. I'm thankful for all these fun linky parties as they help me to motivate myself and finish the projects I started.

Berry Barn Designs

I also made some progress with quilt for myself. Yeah people it was a selfish sewing month! :)

I attached the batting to the top with some hand quilting. I'll be adding the backing next.

OMG February

OMG it's February already! I'm going to have fun every month with this perfect linky party name!

My goal is to finish this bag. I want to add zipper pocket but I'm undecided if it's going to be green or pink :) My choice is based on the lining fabric.

To give me some extra motivation it's also my project for 4x7 challenge.

Berry Barn Designs

I was also brainstorming what else to add to my selfish sewing and I would like to finish this quilt for myself.

I have bought cuddly quilt for backing and I brought some batting. The quilting will be simple that's for sure. So yeah, I spent some time planning and shopping. Sounds like a good start to me :)

I'm also thinking about joing #purplesewingchallenge. We'll see.

2016 - FAL Q1 list

I decided to go wild and crazy with my list. It's more of an UFO list and any finish or progress would be nice. You might not even remember some of my projects so let's recap.

#1 Disco quilt which I called Tribute back in summer of 2014. It will probably and hopefully come quilted from my friend soon. I left the quilting to a pro since I love it.

# 2 DM quilt made for blog hop. Find out more here. That's where all the happy scraps comes from.

#3 Love wall hanging. I made this as a anniversary reminder so this one deserves to be finished.

And some cute kids projects by Lorna. Elephant parade and I would like to make some dogs too. Remember Lorna's Dog Gone Cute QAL? Well I bought some fabrics last year for it so it is time to make at least some blocks. My projects #4 and #5 on the list.

How about the color of the year 2014? Well, that's my #6 Pantone mini. I'm a bit torn with this one. One day I love it and I hate it the next. I really need to make up my mind and either finish it or let it go to someone else.

I'm keeping the bags on my list #7 and #8. Plus my latest projects #9 mini and #10 cushion to round up the list nicely.

Note: I used Google Keep app to create my list.
