August goal

For a moment I thought I keep my designer's wall empty. It didn't last too long. At first I added some triangles in perfect OCD arrangement. Than those Christmas flying geese jumped on board.

This is where I'm at. My grey/bright obsession is still going strong so I choose my cushion cover as my August goal for ALYoF.

Plus here is little experiment.

I took little scraps and cut them up into tiny pieces.

I put them on piece of interfacing and iron it.

All squished and ready for the next stage.

Goal achieved

Did you know my middle name is Procrastination? I did not work on any other projects but I was doing many little things just to avoid this beast. I pieced the two rows yesterday and finished today. Hurray!

This finally makes my May/June/July goal of ALYoF complete. The fence makes pretty quilting pattern don't you think?

And the sun is going down :)

The birds are still my favorite.

I also like the flowers. Especially the orange one.

Not all the points are perfect. Look at that blue tulip which is missing some points, oops.

I have the batting ready and the B side as well so I need to move on into quilting stage which usually takes even longer than piecing.

And that's the end of story :) The full moon took over the sun and since it's Friday I'm linking up with Finish it up and more.

 

Selvages and scraps

Did you hear the news? I'll be sharing my project during the Selvage along! Now it's time to share how we store selvages. Please link up!

Nothing fancy on my side. I got most of the selvages from my friend. She brought it in plastic bag and I kept it that way. I used the majority of it already.

Plus I have some in my drawer as well. I never said I'm organized, lol.

I do have some ideas what I'll be making but I need to finish my ALYoF goal first. I decided I need two more flowers so here they are (in progress).

I also got bag of scraps from my dear friend Monika. She knows I love scraps so she pass hers onto me. I really want to start playing with those too but FINISH FIRST!!! That's what I have on my mind :) Here is little teaser for you though.

I'm still unclear which spelling to use - selvages or selvedges which is closer to the edge :)

Christmas in July

It usually starts with some blog post which includes link to tutorial which you can not resist. Or something that just inspire you and you have the urge to cut into your stash and start chain piecing.

That's how new projects sneaks in. And there is the Christmas thing on top of that. I actually looked up the term Christmas in July on web since we do not have such thing hence we do not celebrate it. July means summer holidays and you just enjoy yourself in general due to sunny weather :)

I do remember some blog hops and challenges called Christmas in July which includes some neat tutorials. You can check some on Forth Worth Fabric Studio blog or some crochet at Red Heart.

Back to my project though. As I sewed those flying geese blocks I also sewed together the cut off corners.

I ended up with 36 pieces in 4 different designs. I used strips from Cherry Christmas jelly roll which are perfect size. My favorite are those hanging socks.

Plus I have 72 tiny HSTs which will end up 1 1/2" once I trim them. I know, that's a bit crazy but isn't Christmas in July crazy as well?

Anyway did you know you can prepare yourself for Christmas the whole year round? I always plan to do but you know how it goes. There is actually linky party with giveaway which runs the second year in the row!
