I used to and still do blog in my language as well but I started this blog last year based on some advices given during the hop. I no longer wanted to be "vexa" and I wanted to get more interactive with international community. So far so good!
I'm keen on any handcraft but when I was home with my first child I started with sewing. I made few softies and ordered local magazine with some bag patterns. At first making patchwork blocks was really not my thing. It was not easy on my cheap machine and I like easy and simple. The big turn came with new sewing machine two year ago. I welcomed home Brother NV350, special treat for my 35th Bday. Everyone figured out how old I am? Good!
I'm still hesitant to call myself a quilter. For most of my projects I combine local fabrics with designer's one to create my own combo. You can check all my quilts here. I'm obsessed with color order and matching colors. In between quilt making I enjoy small projects like pouches, bags or cushions. Being Aries I like to do things my way. Just read the characteristics, that is so me: Moody, Impulsive, Impatient ...
I don't like my picture taken but let's do exception for this hop. I wanted to show you couple of my fav things. My fav scarf, colors I like such as grey and hot pink plus some stuff I made. I took it all outside and it started to rain! I had clothesline full of laundry and I was so pissed off. BTW those glasses represent my soft spot for Bono Vox, lol.
I'm not a fan of wordy posts. I like to get straight to the point. Keep it simple. I sew and blog when I feel like it. No forcing! I would recommend the same thing to all new bloggers. Be yourself, enjoy yourself. Don't feel obligated. You have to love what you do! Otherwise it will show. Let's have fun, bring some humor and keep it real. At least that is what I'm aiming for :-)
Share your process making, share your experience as others might benefit as well. Share your desires and anything you want :-) Share what you love. I love to be home alone. I love that the TV turns itself off when I fall asleep. The only show that kept me up was Dexter. I'm yet to watch the final season though. I love to make others smile and inspire. Shoot me a compliment and we can be friends. That is how the Aries roll! I can assure you there is never lack of ideas. I'm always up to something. I hope you'll join me.
Let's see who else we can meet and greet today.
All these fabulous ladies have something to share with you too:

Hi Vera! I am with you! I love when the TV turns itself off at night. However, I cannot watch Dexter...I would never sleep again! Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Vera. I agree, I love blogs where the writers are true to themselves and enjoy what they are making. Thanks for keeping it real!
ReplyDeleteI have been following you...great stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing in english. It's a little bit to follow in other languages (I follow someone from Netherlands, I just look at the pictures). I'm french speaking, but I have to blog also in french/english for people to follow. By the way, when I was young, I loved Czech because my favorite North America hokey player came from there. And my brother loved Slovekia because his favorite hockey player, in the historical opponent team came from there ! At that time, it was one and only country.
ReplyDeleteThe Czech is such a beautiful place, I loved every minute being there :). That picture of you with your rain boots and 1,000 bags cracked me up! Your too much and I have enjoyed every minute of reading this post.
ReplyDeleteI love that you included the picture of yourself with some of your favorite things. I think sharing the process is important, and try to do that as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteHi Vera...here for the hop! I love your style. Fun to read about YOU and what you do.
ReplyDeleteThe lone star and the color wheel are beautiful! I've been following you for awhile but it's nice to read a little more about you :)
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you Vera....and I really do feel like I got to know you a bit better through this great post. What a treat! Great photo of yourself too, I appreciate you getting wet....it's nice to see you.
ReplyDeleteHi Vera! I *love* your photo - it feels like I really got to meet you! Lovely scarf, by the way. Also, I like that you threw out your sign, too. I like how you roll! :)
ReplyDeleteNo wonder we get along sew well! LOVE the photo, Vera. You are rockin' it!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love your pic. You look like a good fun. Love your star quilt. Don't know why you don't want to call yourself a quilter, you are so good at it! I did the opposite regarding blog and languages: I start by blogging in English for the community feel, then thought the French people could do with a quilt blog ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou already know that I love your style and your work. Well I love those wellies (pink boots) as well. Excellent blog and great advice for all bloggers.
ReplyDeletexxx
It's fun getting to know the people behind the posts...I love that you put yourself in front of the camera to model your many creations!
ReplyDeleteYour picture made me crack up laughing you look so thoroughly unimpressed!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThe Czech Republic sounds so exotic when I only live where hobbits come from haha
I really love the diamond pieced star that you are showing in this post, it's gorgeous.......I suspect we have similar personalities ;)
hi Vera, loved your photo! Nice to see what you look like. I love your pink wellingtons and I love your colour wheel
ReplyDeleteHa! My brother is an Aries, so I totally "get" you :) Lovely to meet you via your pic!
ReplyDeleteHi Vera, I really enjoyed your story. I love pink, too, and wish to visit Czech once in my life. Nice to meet you.
ReplyDeletewell you know I already love following you, but that photo of you has just made me an even bigger fan!! You are such a fun person, and I love all your makes. I think your Christmas lone star is my favourite so far :-)
ReplyDeleteLove that photo with all your favourite things! And is your star quilt a Lone Star? It's gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI love Dexter but the last season...hmmmm. I constantly think about the last episode wondering if I like it but I do think it makes sense in its own way. If you ever watch it and want to discuss it with someone let me know! I don't really know anyone else who watches it!
I'm an Aries and I am none of those things. . . all at the same time haha Great picture of yourself! You are accomplishing your goal of keeping it real!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! It was very very you. :D The FMF quilt is amazing - I really love the brown, is it gingham? And the yellow, of course.
ReplyDeleteI am Aries, and too am ALL of those things! I love your work... You should feel very confident calling yourself a quilter!
ReplyDeleteI have a question about one of the images in your header:
The 4th image - the one with the spiral quilting with the square, triangle, circle, etc... Can you point me to more pics of that quilt? I love the quilting on it and would love to see more of it!
Great photo Vera! I've been to Prague a few times and to Brno once - loved it!
ReplyDeleteLol Vera I totally love your picture, was laughing so hard. But your creations are so amazing, always a joy to look at them
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! And I love the quilt you showed, that brown isn't something you'd normally see in a quilt and yet it works brilliantly. It's good to see a quilt that's quite individual like that.
ReplyDeleteYou're gorgeous ... I love those pink rubber boots!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see a photo of you- even if you don't look very happy! Maybe another one soon?
ReplyDeleteLove your portrait! That star really seems to glow against the brown background. What a great choice.
ReplyDeleteOMG your picture cracked me up, you're stinking adorable! Loving the work you shared with us today - can't wait to poke around on the rest of your blog!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Love the picture of you, very clever and funny! Beautiful Lonestar quilt, and great pictures!

ReplyDeleteLoved your post and your photo! You made me smile today on my lunch:) Great Lone Star quilt too!
ReplyDeleteHi Vera! I am pleased to meet you. I am a new follower via bloglovin. Drop over and visit me once in a while. Blog can be neglected but I do post giveaways there and quilting matters and sometimes interest items and funny things.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is hilarious! Nice to meet you! I was in the Czech Republic... just this past weekend. Spent a few days up in Pec Pod Snezkou, where I sat on my ass for hours binding a quilt while the rest of my party walked 25kms up and down mountains, and then a day in Prague (where I--of course--found a quilt shop).
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are so beautiful, I'm looking forward to seeing more!
Greetings from Munich :)
Nice to meet you Vera!! I live in Ossining, NY almost on the Hudson River. It's about an hour north of Manhattan. It's nice that bloggers from outside the US have joined this hop.
