Rainbow gene

I needed to make this coin purse for a while. It replaces one that I made 4 years ago. It should hold few coins for bus and bus ID card.

The old one was worn out. I asked my girl what fabric I should use for new one. The answer was: rainbow :) Yeah my friends, it seems I passed on the rainbow gene. To buy me some time I asked her to make a sketch.

She helped out with picking up the fabrics and changed her mind where to place the neck string.

On the back side there is vinyl so the ID can be visible. I put zipper there as well since on the old one the vinyl part got all torn up.

I'm pretty happy with the result and so is my girl. We already said goodbye to old one. It served well for sure.

I made the rainbow piece a bit larger so I can use it on one more project. It goes so well with denim ...

  1. That is so cute! And useful, too. So nice that your daughter asked you to make it!

  2. Pretty and to be happy with that.

  3. Turned out great! I'd say you got the goodie out of your first one! So satisfying when you make something and use to death!

  4. What an awesome design and I love seeing the pouch beside the sketch your daughter made. Also: what a wonderful gene to have passed down. :)

  5. Hi Vera! This is super beautiful! About one week I have tried to decide what jelly roll to order as I won gift card for FQS (that goes for shipping) and every day i changed my mind. Now I see your rainbow fabrics and I'm not sure if I did well when ordering the 'Grand Canal'...I think I need to get the rainbow, too! x Teje

    1. Teje, you chose well. I am also very very indecisive about choosing.
      I love everything.

  6. VERY nice.
I love how every country (that I ever lived in) required all persons to carry ID when they turn 16- or 18.
I have some old IDs of mine from when I was a young girl traveling and living in Europe. We had to have them.... and that was - um, several decades ago.
Here in the US, demanding everyone to have ID is "racist" hahahahaha
I love these little bags. Your daughter is already hooked. Well done momma.

  7. Great design, the rainbow is so happy and cheerful.

  8. Lucky kiddo - and she has a designing gene as well! I'm sure the old zippy was happy to be worn out - after all- that meant it was being used and loved :D The replacement is ... sorry, gotta do it ... rainbowlicious :D

  9. You two are quite the designing team!! I love love love your new zippered pouch! The idea of the vinyl side is so useful...
    Well done!

  10. Fabulous and very useful. It i great to have someone help with the design. Thanks for linking up to #scraptastictuesday

  12. I am impressed by how close to the sketch the bus pass holder is. Nice work.
Colour preferences must be genetic. My mum and I both love red.
