FAL - Q2 list

I haven't managed to recap my Q1 list and here I am making up list for Q2.

1. Color wheel - this is ongoing project from Q1. I need to quilt and bind this thing. I already started and I need those pins for other projects so this is top priority now.

2. Pantone quilt top - I made this top during the Q1 so I would like to finish it during the Q2.

3. Ballerinas - my girl is questioning me about this quilt so I better make some progress.

4. Ikea print - I called this thing boyish quilt in the Q1 but I don't think I want to make a quilt out of it any more. I would like to use those blocks for some fabric baskets or bags.

5. Echino bag - I got this fabric for my Bday and I love it so I would like to turn it into bag, messenger style probably.

6. Triangle quilt - this is part of Triangle QAL and I would really like to finish it :-)

That's it. It seems I only added two new projects to my original Q1 list but that's fine with me. Have you read the stats of Q1? Average finishes were just over 3 per person so I got plenty :-)

Q1 was the first time for me to give this FAL a try. I made 7/10 which is pretty good and if you read the Q1 winners list you might have noticed I scored the big prize! I still can't believe it and I will do happy dance once parcel arrives at my doorstep as it is still a bit virtual but yay! I'm lucky newbie I guess and here is recap of my finished projects to do Q1 some justice.

Log cabin SAL. I made two pretty projects.
Pantone quilt challenge and my mini. Plus the top which is on my Q2 list.
241 tote which is currently my fav to use.
Broken herringbone quilt made it to the booth at local quilt show.
Skill Builder blocks turned into cushion covers.
4 house pouches finally finished.
Animal blocks turned into fun little bag.

Finish Along 2014

Thanks Katy for hosting and good luck to everyone for the Q2!

Triangles wk4

So I pieced and pieced and added a bit here and there. I ended up with 13 rows with 18 triangles in it. Well the end pieces are not triangles and I used some scraps which I had from all the cutting. It is nearly 53x70". This is the original way I look at it but I like it the other way round even more :-)

There really isn't top or bottom. It works both ways. How many triangles do you see? Many for sure :-)

The Sassy Quilter

I can't resist back side photo. Thank you my 1/4 inch patchwork foot for those even seams :-)

Now it come the crucial task. Basting and quilting, eeek! I hope I won't ruin it since I just love the way this thing turned up.

Since I finished this top last night (Friday) I'm still linking up to TGIFF and Crazy mom quilts.

Plus

My tip for cheap storage idea would be Scrappy vinyl pouches and one side of crib which I use as rack. More pics of my corner here.

Triangles WK3

In order to piece the rows I needed some layout. I started at the top. I didn't like it. So I start in the middle

and didn't like it. Another try looked better. Random placement was too much for me to handle so I made up few triangles and this is it!

There are still few pieces random but there are mostly triangles. I have added one more row as I wasn't happy with that bottom line. That means I need to cut few more triangles.

The Sassy Quilter

So far I pieced 5 rows so I'm happy to keep up with the QAL. Once I piece all the row I probably put it together since I have another project on the other side of that batting (designer's wall). I just flipped it over, lol.

Sunday stash

I don't get to participate in Sunday stash very often but you might be interested to see what I got at the quilt show.

Visiting my friend at the show also meant and exchange of Bday presents (fabrics). I always wanted some Echino and finally I have some thanks to my generous friend.

I always admired bags made out of Echino. I knew I wanted that elephant so I asked my friend for it. Yes I'm that kind of girl. I rather tell what I want than receive something I don't fancy :-) She's also an Aries so she understands my kind of personality.

Love it!

I'm also in love with those circles and butterflies and that lady bug. I need to get some matchy zippers for my bag :-) I was showing my new treasures to my family as they visited us yesterday and they were like: these fabrics look old and kind of badly washed. Oh well. All I could do was just laugh.

What else did I get at the show? I haven't used the fabrics I got there last year so I was not going to buy anything without a plan in mind. So I got one piece for my triangle quilt. I needed new needles and extra thin velcro and few cute charms without a reason. That's it!

I admit it. I'm not a real quilter and fabric hoarder. Of course the range and prices are different here (around 13$ per yard) and I would probably change my mind if I had good quilt shop nearby. I also have to take my limited storage space into consideration. Plus I got some non quilty stuff instead :-) You know wardrobe need an update with the spring and fabrics are not my priority.

You probably figured out I had Bday recently. April 3rd to be precise and I got an unexpected addition for my photography adventure. Yes, tripod! That should count into stash as well :-)

Prague Patchwork Meeting

Today I'm going to show and tell you a bit about the quilt show I went to yesterday.

These were my fav quilts there. Monochromatic by Barbara Lange.

I also liked section where the quilts were called Shapes but I didn't pay much attention to the labels. Some were by Uta Lenk but not sure if all of them.

*Update: all the shapes quilt were by Uta Lenk.

My eye also caught quilts in Challenge Mother Nature.

Especially quilts by Czech author Jaroslava Grycová. These tiny pieces were absolutely amazing in detail.

There was also quilt by Joanna from Shape Month maybe you read her post about this quilt.

I was happy to see some Vasarely art as well. I actually found this as free pattern some time ago and if I had a bucket list this would be on it. No, yellow will not make it into my quilt :-)

Challenge Application had some fun pieces in it as well. This one was called Anatomy of the Old Age.

There were few section that didn't really speak to me so no pics of those. Carnival of Fabrics was good in improv piecing but all those colors randomly put together scared me away. I also got the true sense of minis due to Traditional and Miniature section.

Leslie Harwood is probably the queen of tiniest pieces ever. She had quite a few there.

It was my second time going to this quilt show. As I said yesterday to me it is more social thing. I get much more inspiration on the web and from bloggers I follow. I don't have an intention to send a quilt there. One of the reasons is that the section for Czech quilts has the worst lighting. See for yourself. Would you like to have a shadow to half of your quilt or be in the shadow on the side? Not to mention one quilt hanging on blue plastic cover sheet which was all over the other side.

I have much more pics. I'll share some next time if you interested or maybe just a few more.
