WiP - hand quilting

There is not much sewing happening at my place. I'm in hand quilting mode.

It was raining in the afternoon so I hand quilted while watching .... have a guess! Yeah, Barbie!

I read many times how people hand quilt in the car. I wanted to try it out. We were only going to my parents' house. There is nothing like highway so there were some turnings and I don't think is worth it since it is only 15 minutes away, lol. Ridiculous is the word to describe my car sewing experience.

I had all the houses quilted around and it was time for pinwheels. I marked circles around and managed to quilt around all of them. I left the quilt on couch to have it cat approved.

I only hand quilted the top and batting together. Now it is time to add polar fleece for backing and move on to sewing machine.

On a way home I snapped this perfect spot for picture taking. I'm afraid these will be gone by the time I finish this quilt.

  4. Vera, that is a wonderful house quilt! And I am in love with your quilt inspector!
I can't do anything in a car without getting motion sick, but I do see that a lot of people enjoy hand quilting as they travel. Perhaps you could keep a stash of hexies going for car trips?

  7. Wow, that is a very happy and satisfied cat. I get motion sick, so I can't do much in a car other than drive, talk, or nap. I am extremely jealous of people who can read and be productive on a trip!

  12. I already know this is going to be my favourite of all of your projects - I'm excited to see it getting nearer to completion, and I know a certain young miss will be happy too, next month :) Your gorgeous kitty (boy or girl?) looks like a very qualified quilt inspector - I miss mine!

    Cat approved... tick

I can't do anything in the car - not only is it too awkward most of the time, but doing anything in the car tends to make me car sick.

I like that final photo. I hope it is still theat way by the time you get your quilt done.

I remember that time when all we could watch was Cartoon Network. My husband used to say that our tv was stuck.... Your cat looks like a cousin of our cat. I'll post a photo soon.
    LOVE your country scene photo!

  24. Your hand stitching is beautiful, as is the whole quilt. There is nothing as important as having a quilt, cat approved. Barbie has good taste.
