April was about going to quilt show (Prague's Patchwork meeting) and quilting. Have you missed the first part? You'll find it HERE and let's see few more.
I haven't shared the pictures of my homemade drop down table. My handy husband made it while ago but I wanted to test it out first to find out if it's any good.
That's how it started. The hole is tiny bit bigger than my machine cover which was used as template. At that point I was not thinking about having the hole too big for machine itself.
There are four giant screws holding up the shelf below.
There was absolutely no problem with the hole while practicing my FMQ. I have already shared the use of vinyl as slider substitute. My practice piece (HERE) is already hanging in its place.
I experienced no problems while quilting triangle quilt either.
At first I was not sure about the giant hole in my table but after testing it and using it for a while I must say it makes huge difference. It makes the quilting much easier and actually more enjoyable process which resulted in my favorite quilt and photo shoot ever. See for yourself HERE.
That's how it looks with the cover on. Yes I do use the plastic cover which came with the machine and I don't plan to make handmade fancy sewing cover. I know, shocking! :-)
Linking up with Crazy mom quilts.
I love your rainbow wheel and triangle quilt! Your drop down sewing table looks great and must make quilting a lot easier!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the pictures of your sewing table. That is on my wish list and maybe I can share them with my Hubby and see if he takes the hint. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a sewing cabinet downstairs just sitting around - I bought it from a lady @ a thrift store - she was buying a sewing machine IN the cabinet, but didn't want the cabinet, so she sold it to me for $10, right in the store, lol. I just haven't gotten my sewing room organized enough yet to set it up!
ReplyDeleteVěrko, stolu jsem si všimla už dříve a říkala jsem si, že super. A pokud jde o kryt, tak ano i já používám ten plastový a nevidím důvod, abych šila plátěný kryt, přestože jsou pěkné. To bude asi ta beraní praktičnost. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat. How about I send you a mug rug and you send me your husband in return? I have a worktable that needs cutting!
ReplyDeleteI just noticed that The Patchsmith is offering to trade a mug rug for your husband. I'd be willing to up the bid, to a lap quilt. Seriously, he did a great job on your sewing table. I saw a few storage ideas on your wall that may find there way into my sewing room. Thanks for sharing more quilts from the show, they are awe-inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHi Vera, that sewing cabinet looks great. Those quilts from the show are WOW! The third one down - red with small bits - just amazing.

OOOH! Love the navy blue from the quilt show. Also, that table is awesome. You will get a lot accomplished there.
ReplyDeleteYour sewing table looks great. I have one, too (my husband didn't make it, though), and it does make quilting a lot easier when everything is at one level. Your quilts are beautiful. I love, love, love your triangle quilt posed beside a train. It's a great photo!
ReplyDeleteVery cool table! So nice of your handy husband :) Thank you for lining up to SEWjo Saturday!
ReplyDeleteGreat table! I need to do that too, but I need a different table to do that with. I can not cut this one up. Maybe in "the next house" I will have a bigger sewing room that can house two tables? Yes!!! I do not need a hole in my table yet, just a new house, ha ha!
ReplyDeleteBye Bye
Esther
Just swung by to say how much I love your triangle quilt! Great design :-)
