Q2 - Super tote

Yeah, first finish out of my Q2 list. Super tote which I call B bag. Why?
Due to this little detail on strap. It is hard to read but is says "bee" plus it falls close to my Bday so that is why.

I was thinking how to cover the joint without creating bulk. I came up with this easy solution.

The handles are made out of belts and I did not have enough of the pink one. I quite like this unique look of two colored strap though :)

I put zipper pocket to the back side. It is a must for all the bags I make since I like to slip my keys in there.

I haven't followed the instructions for the interior part. I just made it the way I'm used to. I prefer open zipper. Pocket for phone on one side and zippered pocket on the other.

The bag is pretty roomy and easy accessible with the zipper fully opened.

I had no other color on hand but I think it fits pretty well.

I used denim for the gusset part and for the recessed zipper as well.

Here is me trying to show you the actual size of the bag.
The hardest part of making this bag is to pick fabrics. There are so many great versions on internet and it was hard to make up my mind.
The assembly is easy since the gusset part fits perfectly to the front and back panel. There was no need for adjustment. It is cool pattern and we'll see how I like this bag once I start to use it.

Making this bag is my April goal of ALYoF as well. It was actually my March goal and I probably had on my FAL list last year as well. I'm glad I finally made it!

To celebrate this finish and few other things I'm having little giveaway.

Linking up with finish it up Friday and :

  1. I love all the fabrics you chose! I always go off-pattern for the insides of bags because I love having lots of pockets. I've made 5 super totes, I think, and they all have different interiors. Whenever I'm considering a new bag pattern I look for photos of people wearing the bag to get a better feel for how big it is--so I'm glad you posted this for people like me.

  4. Love your clever use of a selvage to cover the seam on the handle... and that main print is very cute! Isn't it great to have a new, fresh bag to use in the springtime? Makes me think I should get to work on one!

  8. Bee is an awesome bag Vera! You might have had trouble choosing which fabrics out of all those you loved, but this is such a cool combination! Love the strap detail and the turquoise zipper! LOL - you are either a tiny gal or the bag is a lot bigger than I thought.

  9. I love your multi coloured bag, a great idea to use belts and cover the join. I have previously recycled handles from free canvas bags. Great to see your face too Vera!

  10. Nice bag. I knew I was going to love that handle! I'm glad you said you had a hard time picking fabric. I have almost started this pattern a few times but every time I think I'm ready to start cutting I change my mind.

I'm sure that running out of the pink belt length had you worried at the time, but I think the straps look great with the two colours, it adds so much character to the bag and suits the rest of the colours so well.
